The XLM uses butted chainstays AND seatstays. The result is a better
lighter ride, but this increased compliance in the rear triangle makes
it unsuitable for racks.
I currently own a mountain frame which I use for everything. When
commuting, I just use a Trek Suspension pack to haul my stuff in. Works
great for me and keeps that pretty bike looking pretty!!
I love my mountain, but I'd get the XLM if I could afford it!!
