: : : Has anyone experienced premature rim wear with the 98 Shimano Ultegra brake pads. I have less than 500 miles on Mavic Open Pro's and it looks as if grooves are starting to appear on these rims.
: : Hi Dana! I have Mavic SUP Ceramic Rims & have put over 1200 miles on them using the Shimano 1998 Ultegra brake pads. My concern is that i am fast running out of pad material i have not noticed any undue stress to the rims but probably the ceramic braking surface is helping. i can't locate replacement pads from any bike shop around here. Shimano apparently could care less!! pje
: : Paul....try La Biccicletta in Toronto...they can get their hands on some if they don't have any in stock. Their number is 416-762-2679...ask for Henry or Heath. For what it's worth....having the same premature wear problem with the new Dura-Ace pads.
Hi Bernie! Appreciate Your pointing me in the right direction friend. I have 2 bike shops here in Ottawa /Hull area trying to locate ultegra pads. I'm told that the pad material is the same on the new Ultegra & Durace (replacement pads). I'm going to "The Big Smoke" soon & will look up Henry/Heath for sure. Ride Safe. paul
