The welding procedure we've developed for fabricating our frames takes an extensive amount of time. The distinctive Merlin weld has reigned for 17 years as the most aesthetically pleasing weld in cycling. It's hard to imagine, even for us, that such a subtle and uniformly circular puddle pattern could ever result from the volcanic 3,200 degree F temperature needed to weld titanium. If that isn't enough attention to detail and quality, we go one step further than all other titanium builders by generating our own Argon welding gas. Our sophisticated system converts the pure liquid to gas and then delivers it directly to the welder station through a completely sealed system. In doing so we eliminate the risk of exposure to weld-threatening contaminants common through normal industry channels. The purity of our welds is further protected by our carefully controlled welding environments, where fabricators even wear special gloves to prevent the transfer of skin oils and other elements which might compromise a weld. |
