Sure they'll do it , Jeff - for an exorbitant price. It was $450 for awhile, but now I think it's up to $650-700 to replace the old BB shell with an updated, threaded one.
Merlin can't even supply the bearing replacement tool kit they describe in their on-line manual. Customer loyalty? It doesn't exsist at Merlin.
I've taken the plunge to buy a pair of high quality SKF bearings, rather than the poor quality Chinese ones commonly used, in hopes that with regular greasing they will last proportionately longer. SKF#61903-2RS They retail for nearly $50 each, but a good discount supplier ought to sell them for nearly half that. I just bought a set for $27 each.
