bottom bracket axle length

Hello all, I am looking to get some info here on axle length for shimano deore xt group, 8 speed.
What axle length does shimano spec for the 68 mm shell width found on the merlins. I have a 125 mm
and am wondering if that will work. I see the xt bottom brackets come in no longer than 113 mm. My
thinking goes that i would guess that is the length they spec. I have this new phil wood in 125 and
hoping to use it as a return would be a pain.Any help much appreciated.Also the 8 speed is 135 mm
spacing between rear dropouts,right? The merlins have that spacing as do the shimano hubs i assume.
Please to correct me if i am wrong.
