: : My new bike choice has been narrowed to the Merlin Extralight and the Davidson Ti Frame (Seattle,WA)
: : However, I am looking for someone else who may have compared these two excellent bike builders and there quality craftmanship. Since, I don't want to "Recreate the Wheel" I would like to learn from any one else's experience. Thanks for any help.
: RedFace; Don't know about Davidson but i just returned from Merlin Metalworks after having some retrowork done.( expensive until you realize the amount of labor intensive work that is involved plus the fact that retro must be scheduled into the normal wok flow in the plant plus the fact that "Ti" is involved. i can only say with all sincerity that QUALITY over quantity is Merlins mandate. i have never seen such checking & rechecking of tolerances during the building of a frame. Everyone at Merlin is an artist, their work speaks for itself and management & Merlin are fantastic to deal with. Simply put--Great people who believe in Customer satisfaction no matter what you may have heard or read about this small company of dedicated, young, aggresive people. You would be doing yourself a disfavour by not at least contacting either Matt or Dan . do it NOW! paul
