: Looking at purchasing a Ti bike, probably either a Litespeed or Merlin. I'm 200 lbs and wondered if someone can give me their opinion on BB stiffness of Litespeed Tuscany/Ultimate/Vortex versus Merlin EL/Road. My thought would be that the Litespeed Ultimate with its oversized down tube would be the stiffest but....
: Although I'd love to test ride each, can't find a dealer in my area that has stock of 61cm. frames. Thans in advance for your comments and Happy New Year!!!!

Bernie,

I'm 200 and purchased a Extralight. No regrets. I did find however that what made my bike flexy was the bottom bracket. I had a Campy Chorus BB and I switched to a Phil Wood. Since the swith, flex has been reduced greatly. I rode an Ultimate and I thought it was a bit too stiff. Didn't ride the Vortex, but I understand it's a fine frame. I also own a Litespeed MTB (Hiwassee, there low end frame) and I love it. Bottom line, test ride what you can. I did and I bought the Merlin. I love it!!!!
