imho - are the dealers that are 200 miles away a good shop?
if so, i would recommend driving to them for the sale and
after sale service. there are a number of advantages to
dealing in person with the "local" dealer that simply cannot be
duplicated by mail order houses.

on the other hand, i have found many mail order dealers who
are also very prompt, reliable and courteous.

i have purchased bikes through both channels (only 2 thru mail
order). considering the amount you plan to put towards your
next bike, i would lean very heavily to the "local" dealer side.

just my 2 cents

: There is no Merlin Dealer within 200 miles of my home,
: So I am shopping for a good dealer. "Good" to me means
: they will get me the best possible price on the bike
: and components, will be there to take care of any
: problems that may arise.

: Any shops come to mind? Other suggestions for getting
: the best price on the best bike?
