Rumors behind Vandermark's departure from Merlin to Seven

I recently attended a Trek bike show displaying the 98 models, and the word on the streets is that Rob Vandermark (and others), a former Merlin designer, left Merlin because of concerns over where Merlin is headed. I wasnt sure whether that meant Merlin is having money problems or he left because of creative differences. Hmm, interesting. Will Dan Fox reply, or what is the company line on this.
