: Somewhere else on this website, Merlin says that currently, 6/4 titanium is not suited for bicycle building purpose. To be more specific, they said that it is incredibly hard (or not yet possible) to make seamless tubes from the stuff and that is why they haven't approached it yet. My question is, are frames like the litespeed 6/4 ti tellico or other 6/4 frames superior to merlin's material (material-wise), or are their 6/4 frames not yet refined enough to meet merlin's criteria
In a recent Dean Titanium bike review in Bicyclist Magazine, I think it's in the June number, someone from Dean
says that seamless 6-4 Ti. tubing in manufactured but the aero industry bought all the production. This is for the tubing. If you want to now tha basic of titanium and don't want to try several bikes, wich could be a good idea but for non-journalist it's quite difficult, just surf on the www for article of Scott Nicol in VeloNews and other frame builders such as Tom Kelloggggg.
It will always be, like the question about the chicken end the egg, wich of both came first?, wich of Titanium 3-2.5 or 6-4 is the best. But why always looking for the best? The first thing to not forget it's the way it rides.
Happy summer
