For what it's worth (since I don't own a Merlin mtn frame), I can
confirm Steven Gacek's positive experience with the American Classic
seatpost. I own a Merlin Extralight and have hade no problems with the
American Classic seat post slipping or twisting. On the contrary, despite
liberal application of Ti prep to the seat post the American Classic
is a real pain in the rear to get out of the seat tube.
As for the aesthetics of the American Classic: it may not look up-market,
but it is for certain one of the lightest around and very functional.

Kind regards,
Kelly Shaw
