I had a Guerciotti frame and loved it until I tried the Merlin on a ride that lasted longer than one hour. After sitting in the saddle for two hours my butt did not have nearly as much "road shock" as it did when on the steel. I thought this would translate into a mushy, less-efficient bike, but the Merlin is very stiff where you need it and very forgiving where you need it. Steel is wonderful but I like the Merlin better overall. OR just buy both. One for shorter sprints and 45 minute rides (steel) and one for all other rides (ti). You will really appreciate the ride of the Merlin if you are not riding on the most prestine blacktop roads.
