: Just got my XL built-up and can't wait to race this weekend. However, I neglected to remember when transferring parts from my old frame that it was Italian threaded. I found a respectable steel English bottom bracket and put it on so I could get on the road. Can someone suggest a good bottom bracket. This is my first experience with a Ti bike. Steel is real and all. I'm concerned at 185-190 #s, would I flex a Ti BB and is there an issue with similar metals (Ti on Ti) Suggestions and comments are appreciated.

Ex! I'm cerainly not an authority on the subject but anything I have read would indicate that "Ti-on-Ti" is deadly! Parts will "freeze" like the great white north! I understand that there are "chemical" "preventative ointments and such on the market to assist in preventing Ti parts from "welding" themselves to other Ti parts. Good luck in your racing endevours. Hope you enjoy your Merlin to its max! pje
