Question about suspansion fork on hard-tail

posted by Gandhi on september 19, 1998 at 12:48:27:

I am thinking about installing the new
Z1 BAM ('99 model year) on my XLM cross country bike.
The standard travel is 130 mm, and I will reduce it
to 100 mm with a reduction kit. My question is - will
installing the longer travel fork ruin the geometry
of the bike, or will it be okay. I know it does not
make sense to install a down-hill fork on a cross-country
hardtail, but my current Z2 BAM's 2.5 inches is not enough.
Any one running zokes Z1 on their hard-tail? Comments would
be appreciated. Also, what is the official opinion of
you guys who designed the mountain frame?

Thanks.
