: : : : : I've been drooling over a Merlin Road at my LBS, but I've heard that larger riders (230 pounds) should stay away from titanium framed bikes. Any truth to this little piece of advise?
: : : : Hi John! Heck, "Ti- tubing" was "invented" for the aircraft industry i don't see why 230 lbs could not be supported quite nicely by a Merlin Road frame. I'm obviously no engineer though. You woulf find ,like other Ti riders that the frame is more "flexible" which is,to me at least,a great plus on the road. I weigh 180. Please keep us posted as to your decision.
: : : I will echo that sentiment. You should have no problem with a Ti frame. I have a friend your size who rides an Extralight...No problems. Give Matt Bracken a call at Merlin...I am sure he will answer any questions you have. If you are gonna get a Ti bike it should be a Merlin. Enjoy!

: : John / Scott! Great advise Scott! I have met Matt Bracken & he is extremely knowlegable about Titanium & of course being Merlin's Service Manager poccesses a wealth of knowledge about titanium & "everything you want to know about Merlin but were afraid to ask"! Matt is also a very honest, sincere and trustworthy guy! pje
: I'm 6'4" and have a Standard Road and an XLM. I usually weight about 215, and I have never regretted buying both of my Merlins. The ride is phenominal!!! Go for it and good luck!
GMASS! Nice of you to ad your reply confirming that Merlin/Ti will "do the job" very nicely! Two Merlins! Neat! Ride Safe. pje
