I've been riding a Merlin Mountain for almost two years now. The handling characteristics of this bike are just incredible. One major difference between the Merlin and the Obed is that Merlin uses size characteristic tubing for each frame size, which means that smaller frames have smaller tubes and larger frames have larger tubes for increased stiffness. That sounds neat and it shows: the frame is stiff where it has to be (bb) and compliant in the rear. Another difference is craftsmanshhip: compare the bottom bracket area of the two frames and you'll realize that Merlin welds are second to none.
