When I mounted the new ('99) Specialized Team Turbo tires on my Extralite, the rear tire rubbed the front derailleur bracket. Last year's version of the same tire (the '98's didn't have a Kevlar band) has about 1/8" clearance. Both tires are 700x23. Since I have two sets of wheels, I temporarily solved the problem by putting last year's tires on the rear and the larger '99's on the front.
I met a guy last week who had a similar problem with Continental Grand Prix tires. He solved the problem by switching to Michelin Axial Pros.
It appears that some 700x23's are bigger than others and with the very tight Extralite geometry this makes a difference. Has anyone else had this problem? What tires fit and what tires don't? I am not interested in switching to a 700x20.
