Hello Gerhard, normally ti-prep or anti-seize is used between similar metals, for example where Ti meets Ti, Al meets AL, and steel meets steel, to prevent these metals from bolding. So you it's absolutely necessary to use it between your Ti seatpost and you Merlin Ti frame. I use Ti-prep on the bolts and in the bottom bracket area of my Mountain frame, to be sure, that there will be no problems with creaking noises, when to different metals come together, because ti-prep is a grease which lasts long. You don't have to use it there, you can use normal grease, but in my experiences with my Ti-frame, ti-prep is the best stuff to grease where Ti meets Ti and all other metals. Happy Trails, T.R.
