Looking at getting a new bike and have always wanted a Merlin but questioned whether my riding level warrants the dollars. First Background:
Riding over the years has been somewhat sporadic. While I love to ride, job and child commitments have, occasionally, limited the time and miles. Since January I have jumped back in pretty seriously; joined racing club, 200+ miles per week, and adjusted diet to improve cycling (dropped 40 pounds). Currently not racing but plan to do so later this summer. Currently riding a old (16 years) SL tubing Guerciotti with upgraded (99 Chorus) Components. Time for a new bike. Looking for a bike that improves on weight from current, would be good for racing, and is one that I will have and enjoy for a long time.
As I mentioned, always wanted a Merlin and was looking at the Extralight and Road. Someone I spoke to indicated that I might want to consider the Odessey. They indicated that because of tube sizes they felt the Odessey rode more like the Extralight than did the Road. I rode the Odessey and Extralight but only around a limited area. I'm leaning toward the Odessey at this point but want to get some other opinions and pros/cons.
Would appreciate any thoughts.
