Made to Measure Custom Frames
Thank you for choosing the Merlin Made to Measure custom frame program. Our goal is to build a frame that will fit you perfectly, perform beyond your expectations, and last a lifetime. Here's how we'll do that:
Our customs are divided into two broad categories, Extralight and Road. Extralight frames have Merlin MTS325 custom-sized double-butted tubing. Road frames are built with Merlin MTS325 custom-sized straight-gauge tubing.
In all, we offer five different types of customs: Extralight custom, Extralight triathlon, Road custom, Road touring, and Cyclocross, which uses Road tubing with the option of Extralight main tubes.
To order, we ask you to confer with your dealer and fill out our made to measure form entirely. You should be able to print it from your browser. When you've completed it and taken the three photos we ask for, your dealer will send the package to Merlin. Master frame builder Tom Kellogg of Spectrum Cycles, who designs the geometry for all Merlin road bikes, will create a blueprint for your frame. If he has any questions, he will call you or your dealer.
Tom will design your frame based on the information you provide here and the three photographs. You do not need a special fitting session, as long as you can send photos of yourself on your current bike and its measurements. If you have been sized with a Fit Kit, Size Cycle, or other system, however, please include the results with the form, or transfer them to the form section entitled "About Your New Bike."
When we receive Tom's blueprint, we will call you with a specific build date. We will also ask you to place a deposit at that time, before we begin construction.
In most cases, we'll ship your frame within two weeks of the build date. We will send the frame to your dealer UPS Ground C.O.D., less your deposit, when it is complete.
Your Merlin custom carries our standard lifetime warranty against defects in materials and workmanship, and is in every respect a full-blooded Merlin.
Since our frames do not require paint for protection, we do not offer paint as part of our program. Should you choose to paint your frame, it will have no effect on your Merlin warranty except that we cannot be responsible for paint or refinishing if warranty work or repairs are necessary.
If you have any questions while completing the form, please ask your dealer for assistance, or call us at Merlin. We want to build you the frame of a lifetime, so please take your time, enjoy the process, and let us know if we can do anything to help.
